The government has rejected tens of interested parties in the purchase of the Dome to progress discussions with 'a small number of serious contenders'. In his letter to parliament, the minister in charge of the Dome, Lord Falconer confirmed that the majority of the 100 interested parties had been rejected so that the government can press ahead with serious discussions. Property developer Quintain Estates and the biomedical charity, The Wellcome Trust, are expected to be included in the remaining group of potential bidders.
